WOW!house 2025 Kitchen with Ben Pentreath Studio

‘A warm hug of space, detailed and layered, with a palette of natural materials and rich earth colours, like something from an illustrated children’s storybook...’

Lopen Joinery has worked with Ben Pentreath Studio’s Rupert Cunningham, Alice Montgomery and Leo Kary to create the ultimate unfitted kitchen. What the designers jokingly call “Greco-gothik” in style, it draws inspiration from the ‘back of house’ areas of the Regency Country house, where the Greek and Gothik styles vied for dominion.

Each piece, bar one antique, has been carefully made by Lopen. A broad dresser, a stout cook’s table, a lofty and delicate glazed cabinet, arcaded shelves, the gothic mantelpiece, an ebonised larder and even the octagonal roof lantern. Greek and Gothik detailing has been woven into each element in quite a playful way, so that the pieces are linked through subtle design markers, appearing collected, rather than designed by the same hand.
